An unseasonably frigid day in Jacksonville, FL was filled with warmth as Army Staff Sergeant Antwian Cooper and his family were greeted with “Notes of Love” on the framework of their soon-to-be forever home. Cooper’s 11 years in the military included four deployments overseas – two to Iraq and two to Afghanistan.

Among his many physical and psychological injuries include an IED explosion in Afghanistan that struck his convoy and knocked him unconscious. Though he was medivacked to the nearest hospital and took several weeks to recover, Cooper still rejoined his unit afterwards to continue serving. Copper still struggles with his injuries and as a tribute to his service and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
