In Manvel, a Community Comes Together to Welcome a Hero Home February 11, 2026
Under sunny skies in Manvel, Texas, Building Homes for Heroes celebrated the dedication of a new mortgage-free home for Navy Hospital Corpsman Gabril George, made possible through partnership with David Weekley Homes, and Hillwood Communities. The beautiful day was a celebration of community, gratitude, and a shared commitment to honoring those who have served our nation. One day earlier, dozens of volunteers from Lowe’s helped beautify the garage and deliver a patio set, and volunteers from Amazon and Whole Foods delivered appliances and goods to put beautiful finishing touches on the home for the George family.
More than 250 community members joined a deeply patriotic ceremony featuring a procession led by students from the Manvel Independent School District, featuring student cheerleaders, dancers, musicians, athletes, and local first responders, veteran motorcyclists, and riders on horseback. At the emotional peak of the event, the Patriot Parachute Team descended from the sky as parachutists, landing beside the home while proudly draped in the American flag.
George, a single-amputee Navy veteran and Invictus Games athlete known as “The One-Armed Archer,” is also a passionate advocate for adaptive sports. His discipline, perseverance, and competitive spirit continue to inspire those around him, both on and off the field. Together, Building Homes for Heroes, David Weekley Homes, and Hillwood Communities were honored to share a day that brought an entire community together to celebrate service, sacrifice, and the heroes who make days like this possible.
