Emergency Funding Program Details

General Information:

  • Emergency Funding grants are awarded to injured and disabled Veterans, as well as Gold Star families and First Responders, who are facing financial hardship on an availability basis. *While we do our best to help as many people as we can, we make no representation that submitting a completed application will result in grant funding.
  • Once you submit your application and all necessary supporting documents, there is nothing more you will need to do. Due to the large volume of applications received, we will contact you if we should need any additional information or if funding is available.
  • If you wish to update your application and cannot do so online, please email any updates to applications@buildinghomesforheroes.org. Due to the large volume of applicants, you will not receive a response unless more information is needed.
  • Grant funding decisions are made on an individual basis. Each case is unique and you should not rely on the information or process of another recipient or candidate for a future outcome.

Required Documentation for Applications:

  • DD Form 214
  • VA Benefits Letter
  • Photos to help tell the veterans story (military service photos, before injury, during recovery, after recovery, family photos, and updated photos)
  • Signed and Dated Photo Waiver

Common FAQs:

  • Q: If I submit an application, will I get awarded a grant?
    • A: Please understand that there are far more applicants than there are available grant funding opportunities. While we do our best to help as many people as we can, we make no representation that submitting a completed application will result in an award.
  • Q: How long does it take to get approved?
    • A: Since there is no guarantee that an applicant will get chosen, there is no specific timeframe for if, or when, you may receive an award.
  • Q: What if I don't have all of the required documents when I'm filling out the application?
    • A: If unavailable at the time, please upload a word document detailing your specific situation. Once you receive the document, you may then email it to us.
  • Q: If I have been charged of a crime, am I still eligible to apply?
    • A: If you have been charged for a crime, you will not automatically be disqualified.

If you should have any questions or concerns at any time, please send an email to applications@buildinghomesforheroes.org. We will be happy to assist you further.

Help Us Reach 400 Homes In 2024

Building Homes for Heroes was founded in 2006 with the hope of gifting a single home to a single veteran. Thanks to the help of tireless volunteers, supporters and generous corporations, the dream has grown towards our goal of reaching our milestone 400th home by the end of 2024.
