February 27th proudly marks Building Homes for Heroes' 20th Anniversary, celebrating two decades of honoring and supporting the brave men and women who have served our country.

What began as a simple but powerful dream, to gift one mortgage free home to a wounded veteran, has grown into a national movement rooted in compassion, patriotism, and an unwavering belief that our heroes deserve the very best when they return home. From that first promise, Building Homes for Heroes has expanded its mission to serve veterans and first responders across the country, creating life changing impact for thousands of families.

Over the past 20 years, the organization has built an extraordinary network of communities, corporate partners, volunteers, donors, and advocates who share in this mission. Together, they have not only gifted homes, but provided stability, renewed purpose, and brighter futures for the families who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation.

Later this year, Building Homes for Heroes will proudly reach a significant milestone: the gifting of its 500th mortgage free home. This achievement represents far more than a number. It reflects 500 families who now have a safe place to call home and a strong foundation upon which to build their futures.

Beyond home giftings, the organization’s impact extends into a wide range of life changing programs designed to empower veterans and first responders to not only survive — but thrive. Heroes have been supported as they trained for the Paralympics, launched businesses, returned to school, and even climbed mountains. Through emergency funding, Building Homes for Heroes has also stepped in during moments of crisis, helping families navigate sudden illness, natural disasters, and unexpected financial hardship. In addition, veterans are matched with certified financial advisors to help them build long term security and confidently plan for the future.

These accomplishments belong to the entire Building Homes for Heroes family. Every supporter, every corporate partner, every volunteer, and every advocate has played a vital role in shaping the past 20 years of service and success.

As the organization celebrates this milestone anniversary, it does so with deep gratitude and renewed determination. With continued support, Building Homes for Heroes will serve even more heroes and strengthen even more families in the years ahead.

Here is to 20 years of building homes and building better and brighter lives!
