Building Homes for Heroes Celebrates Home 400! December 12, 2024

Hundreds joined Building Homes for Heroes Team for our milestone 400th home ceremony in Argyle, Texas on Pearl Harbor Day to welcome home Army Specialist Josh Sager and his wife, Melanie, into their new home.
A festive and patriotic precession led by the Argyle High School cheerleading squad, football team, award-winning marching band, police and fire trucks, motorcycle riders and more kicked off the holiday celebration, and words by our Founder and CEO, Andy Pujol, and other VIPs culminated with the surprise reveal for the Sager family. The milestone home was made possible through collaboration with Hillwood Communities and Highland Homes.
Joshua served with the Scout Surveillance and Reconnaissance platoon for 3/509th Infantry. Despite suffering catastrophic injuries from a parachute training accident that doctors said might prevent him from ever walking again, Specialist Sager demonstrated remarkable resilience through 18 months of rehabilitation. The home comes at a perfect time, as Melanie is two months shy of her due date with their first child!

This home gifting would not have been possible without our many sponsors, nearly all of whom were present during the celebration – Hillwood, Highland Homes, Lowe’s, Chase, SAIC, , RealTruck, PulteGroup, Legrand, the FDNY 343 Ride, Sphere One, the Liberty & Loyalty Foundation, Amazon and AWS, and so many more.
It’s been a long journey since our organization the aftermath of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, when Pujol volunteered in the search-and-rescue efforts at ground zero alongside first responders. Building Homes for Heroes has since grown into one of the nation's fastest-growing veteran-focused organizations, evolving from gifting a single home to now averaging more than one home constructed, gifted or modified every 10 days.
Enjoy photos from the wonderful day, and join us as we now begin the march towards 500 homes!
