Bronze Star Hero Now Has a Place to Call Home December 24, 2025

Under clear skies in North Port on December 18th, Building Homes for Heroes, in partnership with JPMorgan Chase, proudly presented the keys to a new mortgage-free home to U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Kevin Wallace and his wife, Lauren. The patriotic ceremony brought together neighbors, supporters, and local leaders, all united in gratitude for a family whose service and sacrifice have spanned decades.

A Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, Kevin’s journey to this day reflects more than 20 years of dedication to his country. After enlisting in September 1997, he served with distinction until his medical retirement in January 2018. Kevin sustained many injuries during his service, including when his team was ambushed while conducting night patrols in Badghis Province, Afghanistan. An RPG detonated just feet behind him, throwing him into a wall. Even in the chaos of the attack, Kevin documented the battle, capturing more than 400 photographs that would later support operational analysis, intelligence efforts, and the historical record of Air Force operations.

Following his military service, Kevin became a spokesperson for the Air Force’s Invisible Wounds Initiative, helping establish understanding and trust for Airmen and families navigating PTSD. Alongside Lauren, he has also taken that mission on the road through their Van of Valor initiative, traveling the country to interview Purple Heart recipients and Gold Star families, preserving their stories of service and sacrifice for a forthcoming book.

The North Port home will allow Kevin and Lauren to continue their work, their travels, and their service to others.
