A Hero’s Homecoming in Naperville October 15, 2025
October 1st marked a life-changing moment for Army Staff Sergeant Tomee Phetsisouk and his family. Hundreds gathered in Naperville to honor his years of service with the ultimate gift — a brand-new, mortgage-free home.
Tomee, an Iraq War veteran who served nearly a decade, sustained severe injuries when his unit’s vehicle was hit by an IED. To this day, he continues to face the lasting effects of his service, including a traumatic brain injury, hearing loss, chronic pain in his neck and back, and PTSD.
The beautiful new home was built by Pulte Homes and donated in partnership with Building Homes for Heroes. Dozens of Pulte team members, local residents, and vendors who helped bring the project to life lined the streets of the close-knit Chicago suburb. They waved flags and cheered as a patriotic procession rolled through, culminating in the arrival of Phetsisouk, his mother, and his two daughters.
For Tomee and his family, the keys to their new home represent more than just a house, they mark the beginning of a brighter chapter filled with hope, healing, and community.
