A Hero’s Groundbreaking in New Jersey! May 19, 2025

Building Homes for Heroes and Lennar broke ground on May 13th on the future home for Army Sergeant First Class Bertalan Gonci in Whiting, New Jersey. Gonci’s two decades of service included deployments in conflicts all across the world, including South Korea, Kosovo and Iraq during Desert Storm, and following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks he also deployed again to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan.

Gonci suffers from many combat wounds, including PTSD, migraines, hearing loss, and injuries ot his knees and spine. He and his wife Alaina will move into their forever home later this year.

This is the third home to break ground in partnerhsip with Lennar, with several more to come. Despite rainy weather, more than 100 were on hand to celebrate the Goncis, including dozens from Lennar, local firefighters and many of the tradesworkers who will be contributing to the project.Congratulations to the Gonci family!
