Amazing Donations

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank the David and Teryl Schawk Family Foundation of Des Plaines, Illinois for its tremendous support of the severely-wounded men and women of the military. The Schawk Foundation has donated $55,000 to Building Homes for Heroes to support the building of homes for Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco, Army Specialist B.J. Jackson, Army Sergeant Joel Tavera, and USMC First Lieutenant James Byler.

BAE Systems of Greenlawn, Long Island recently announced a pledge of $15,000 to support the major renovation of the home of First Lieutenant James Byler, USMC. Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank Donna Linke-Klein, Maria Felix, and all of the employees at BAE Systems for their continuous support of the men and women of the military, especially the needs of the nation’s severely wounded veterans. http://www.baesystems.com/index.htm

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank Advance Auto Parts and its’ CEO Darren Jackson for a very generous donation of $10,000.  Mr. Jackson was conducting an interview with Liz Claman on the FOX Business Network when he heard of our mission.  He was so touched by Building Homes for Heroes; he immediately contacted the Charitable Contributions Committee and asked that the donation be made.  This donation will have a tremendous impact on efforts to support our severely wounded veterans.  Thank you to Advance Auto Parts for its generosity and support.

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank Modern Line Furniture, a New Jersey-based company, for its very generous $7,500 donation to assist the severely wounded men and women of the military.

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank Tii Network Technologies, Inc., a Long Island-based company, for its very generous $5,000 donation to assist the severely wounded men and women of the military.  Special thanks to Ken Paladino, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tii Network Technologies, for securing this donation.  Tii Network Technologies is a leader in designing, manufacturing and marketing network products for the communications industry.

Buffalo Stands TallICE Futures dresses down for heroes!

Led by Tom Greene, Senior Vice President of Floor Operations and Member Services, ICE Futures raised over $20,000 through dress-down Fridays.  Donations were collected each Friday, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, with a goal of raising $15,000 for the severely wounded men and women of the military.  Thank you to all ICE employees for their continuous support of Building Homes for Heroes! Semper FISemper Fi Fund!
Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund for its extremely generous donation of $20,000.  This donation will have a tremendous impact on efforts to build a dream home for Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco on Staten Island.  Special thanks go out to Semper Fi’s East Coast Case Manager, Ms. Janine Canty, for attending the benefit concert put on by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, and for presenting Building Homes for Heroes with this extraordinary donation.  Thank you to The Semper Fi Fund for all you do for the injured members of U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

Labor Day Motorcycle Rally in Durango raises $7,000

Thanks to the effort of Central Business District Coordinator Bob Kunkel, the motorcycle parade returned to Main Street Durango as part of Ignacio Bike Week/The Four Corners Motorcycle Rally.  The parade, which also featured vintage automobiles, proved to be a boom for local merchants, and a good time for all, as Main Street was lined with spectators.  Over $7,000 was raised for Building Homes for Heroes.  Click here to read full story...

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank the David A. and Teryl A. Schawk Family Foundation for an extremely generous donation of $25,000 that will have a direct impact on building Army Specialist Brendan Marrocco’s home on Staten Island.

A Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund of $10,000 was made possible through the generosity and recommendation of the Gannon Family Foundation, a donor-advised fund.  The donation was made in honor of Larry Smith.  Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank Mr. Paul Gannon of the Gannon Family Foundation for facilitating this very generous donation. 

Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank American Freight Furniture of Delaware, Ohio, and its president Steve Belford, for the very generous donation of $5,000 to support the severely wounded men and women of the military, and for the organization’s interest in supporting Building Homes for Heroes in the future.  Special thanks to Dorothy Brown for helping to secure this donation.

In June of 2010, Mr. Joseph Johnson of Massapequa, NY participated in The Hoka Key Motorcycle Challenge (a 7,000-mile endurance challenge from Key West to Alaska).   He secured 97 sponsors and raised $4040 for Building Homes for Heroes.  Unfortunately, during the event, Mr. Johnson was involved in a very serious accident that resulted in the loss of his left foot, ankle and shin.  Joseph calls it irony that he lost a limb while trying to raise money for those who lost multiple limbs.  He’s not bitter or angry, and looks forward to continuing to help Building Homes for Heroes and other charitable organizations.

Approximately 50 employees of the Albany and New York offices of New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC) held a “jeans day” to raise funds for Building Homes for Heroes.  Through money raised by employees, and a matching donation from NYBDC, the organization made a generous donation of $4,000.  Building Homes for Heroes would like to thank all of the employees of NYBDC, especially Debbie Mercora, Sabrina Morgan, and Chet Sadowski.   Click here to visit the NYBDC Website
